Initially produced and offered for sale by companies that were refineries, mini gold bars began to be produced by companies other than refineries as the market share grew. Again, mini bars, which were initially produced as the lowest gram, began to be produced in 24 carat and below 1 gram weights over time due to the increase in gold prices and the weakening purchasing power of buyers. Over time, 22 carat products were also included in these. However, the lack of a standard and control mechanism for the companies carrying out these productions during this process stood out as a major deficiency. With the regulation that entered into force in March 2023: The production authority of 22 carat products was limited only to the Mint, The production of 24 carat 995 purity products can be carried out by companies with refinery licenses, Those without refinery licenses will no longer be able to produce these products, Refineries will be able to produce 1 gram 995/1000 products as the lowest gram while performing these productions. The highest gram in the mini bullion category will be 100 grams and these products will be served packaged, A barcode and a serial number will be obtained from the mint for each of the products to be produced, The Mint will be authorized to control and inspect the weight and gram of the products produced by refineries. It is a good development that these steps, which are of great importance to the consumer, will become operational as soon as possible. With this regulation, there will no longer be any question marks in the minds of the consumer regarding the weight and gram of the products sold.
